About Me
As an aspiring journalist in the constantly changing landscape of 21st century news media, my skills are varied and my interests are wide-reaching. I am a writer first and foremost, but have a passion for audio-driven content and radio journalism. I value versatility, curiosity and adaptability above all else, and believe that every day is an opportunity to learn and better yourself.

Professional History
General Manager - KTUH
January 2018 - Ongoing
Operate administrative and financial tasks, as well as outreach efforts to ensure a smoothly-operated and community-involved radio station. Oversee fundraising efforts and budgetary concerns while serving as a liaison between the station and its governing Student Media Board. Manage and maintain a staff of directors to reinforce and foster a strong sense of community and professionalism within the station.
Newsreader - Hawaii Public Radio
February 2018 - Ongoing
Trained in high-volume deadline writing and on-air delivery of local news headlines. Proficient in concise, impactful news writing using AP style. Improved ability to write and produce news stories in a concise timeframe under high pressure. Strengthened on-air spoken delivery and cultivated a professional broadcasting presence.
Program Director - KTUH
August 2017 - January 2018
Oversaw station programming while working with staff directors and DJs to ensure professional quality programs as well as encouraging in-house policies and procedures and enforcing FCC standards. Assisted in campus and off-campus events and worked in an “always on call” capacity. Helped promote campus awareness and station values to widen our listenership.
Board Operator - Hawaii Public Radio

Trained in radio board operation and live, on-air news reading, weather announcements, and public service announcements. Proficient in operation and monitoring of constant-use radio equipment and how to respond to atypical or emergency public announcement situations.
News Director - KTUH
September 2016 - August 2017
Produced news content using audio software (Audacity, Logic) to diversify KTUH programming as well as to increase the awareness and presence of a news element at KTUH. Learned to work with and between co-workers to encourage and promote news-related content among the station’s many DJ’s. Produced and ran a weekly dedicated news show which featured campus and community members discussing local, national and global political issues.

Worked on various weekly, on-air radio shifts during a wide range of different time slots in addition to assisting at promotional events. Strengthened my ability to work professionally, efficiently and consistently within a constantly changing time frame. Developed strong musical knowledge in a variety of genres.
Contributing Writer - Nella Media Group

Served as contributing author of multimedia articles, created web content and edited publication’s online components. Developed communication skills, ability to work under a deadline and efficiency when working on multiple tasks at once. Published work ranging from narrative features, event coverage and long-form investigative pieces.

Learned to work under multiple deadlines in a high-pressure workplace and developed communication skills with interview subjects when working in the field. Became proficient with professional quality audio and video equipment while honing journalistic skills to produce a wide range of news content.

Selected and assigned as intern, Producer and News Desk contributor to Hawaii Public Radio (separate from aforementioned experience with company). Produced content and managed guests of flagship talk Program "The Conversation" while contributing to News Desk with online and broadcast content.

Served as content editor, staff writer and web contributor for Honolulu based culture magazine. Involved in community storytelling and outreach through published articles featured in inter-island, urban life and LGBTQ publications.

Studied Journalism with an emphasis on multimedia content with a narrative focus. Created and produced news content ranging from published stories to multimedia driven video and audio packages.
